Loxton Drive

Whilst out visiting residents last night we noticed that the area of Loxton Drive was full of litter.

Sarah and I needed to make a decision to continue calling on residents or to clear the area up.

Well it did not take long for us to make the decision and we cleared the area of 2 bags of litter.

Rooksbridge walk

We have asked for works to be carried out on the lane from Shophouse Road to Rooksbridge Walk.

We have asked both the council and curo to chase the owner of the large hedge to have it cut back and the brambles removed from it.

The amount of litter is also of concern and we have asked that it is cleared as soon as possible.

One matter that keeps coming up is that this lane is very dark and we have asked that both Curo and the Council investigate the installation of lighting on this path.

Vernon Park

I have asked the council to look at bringing in Gull proof sacks to this road.

I have again reported the amount of mess left in this road, which was caused by birds attacking bags with food waste in them.

The council should have by now cleaned this road up but the situation can not be allowed to continue so I have also asked the council to investigate further what can be done to resolve this problem.

Litter picking

Sarah and I spent a good few hours on Tuesday night clearing up litter on Brook Road, Lymore Ave

and Vernon Park.

All in all we collected several bags of litter from all of these roads and were surprised to find that Vernon Park was so bad after only clearing it up a week earlier.

A pattern that we are finding is that some people are putting food waste out in their black bag waste is concerning and we have taken this up with council officers.

We are out in Westmoreland on a regular Tuesday night speaking with residents and will soon be in a street near you if you have any concerns or worries then please speak to us.

The Hollow

We have contacted the cabinet member to request the bin that has been placed at the bottom of The Hollow/top of Lansdown View is moved.

We have requested this bin is placed next to the bus stop, close to the shop, this will hopefully help to reduce the amount of litter that is dropped in this location and also the large amount of litter that regularly accumulates at the entrance to The Brickfields.

Bath City farm Litter Pick 1st Feb 10.30 till 3pm

Bath city farm will be carrying out a litter pick on 1st February from 10.30am till 3pm.

People are just asked to turn up on the day via the entrance on Kelston View soup and refreshments will also be available for those litter picking on the day.

It is recommended that stout footwear is worn as the ground is uneven and muddy.

Litter pickers usually do a good job clearing the farm land and surrounding roads and hedgerows and the more help that there is the easier the job.

Albany Road.

I have asked that council clear up the lane way from Albany Road to Twerton Hight Street is cleaned up as soon as possible.

I have also asked that other areas in the Lansdown View Estate are cleared up as they seem to be in quite a mess at the moment.

Inverness Road residents

We had a very busy morning yesterday talking to local residents in Inverness Road and are now attempting to resolve some of the issues that were raised with us.

There is concern form some residents about the Linear Way that will soon be opened up via the old railway bridge about how the cyclists and pedestrians will respect the neighbouring houses.

Issues were also raised about graffiti and hedge cutting on the Linear Way and we are attempting to resolve these issues.

A matter of an empty house has been referred to the councils empty property section to resolve.

The matter of the lane from Bellotts Road to Brook Road has again been raised and we have asked for an investigation about having the graffiti removed from the buildings along this path.

Rooksbridge Walk

I have asked the council to clear the footpaths of the weeds and litter in Rooksbridge Walk.

On a recent visit the estate was looking very scruffy and in need of a good clear up, I have asked the council to give me their schedules for clearing the weeds and litter form this area.

I would hope that this area can be brought up to standard quite quickly.

Night Time Drinkers at Riverside

I have reported the issues of night time drinkers at Riverseide and the mess that they are leaving behind to both the council and the Police.

I have asked the Council to clear up the mess and the Police to monitor the area at night to deter this sort of anti social behaviour.

It is all well and good for people to be able to socialise but not to leave the mess that is being left here.

I would like to thank the residents for brining these matters to my attention and for providing the photograph used here.

Bellotts Road Litter

On a walk around in Westmoreland this morning I noticed how much litter that there was on Bellotts Road and how grimy the paths had started to look.

I have asked that the council have a good clean up of Bellotts Road and have suggested that a good brush up may help improve the area.

Claude Avenue litter

Whilst walking around Westmoreland earlier this afternoon Councillor Sharon Ball came across a large mess at the bottom of Claude Avenue.  

Rubbish bags that had been left out earlier than they should have been were ripped open and the contents spread around the area.  This was due largely to food being left in the bags.

After meeting up with Sharon in the ward, we decided to return and clear the area.

Please can you make sure that if you choose not to recycle food waste, you do not leave bags out overnight, but ensure they are put out by 7am on the day of collection.

Claude Terrace

Whilst walking to Moorland Road yesterday morning I can across this:

As collection day is Wednesday, this rubbish would not be collected until next week, and as it was obviously being attacked by animals, I decided to come back and clear it up.

Please can residents ensure their rubbish is put out for collection by 7am on the day of collection and not later.  This will mean we all get to live in a cleaner city, with less chance of bags being ripped open.

Litter an Leaves Priddy Close

I have asked the council and Curo to again remove the litter that is accumulating at Priddy Close.

I have also asked that a brush is taken to the steps in this area to remove the leaves that are so dangerous in the wet weather.

Bad collection of recycled waste

Loxton Drive litter problem?

We have complained to the council about the amount of litter that has been created in the recent Recycling collection.

The picture clearly shows the mess that was left behind yesterday close to the children's play area in Loxton Drive.

Liitter Problem in Cynthia Road

We have reported the problem of litter and rubbish that is not be cleaned away in Cynthia Road and have asked the council to ensure that a thorough clean up of this area takes place as soon as possible.

Dog Litter Bins not emptied

We have complained to the council that the dog litter bins at the Brickfields and Lymore Playing fields are not being emptied as often as they should be.

We have asked that they are emptied as soon as possible and monitored in the future.

King Georges Road

We have asked that the litter is cleared up in King Georges Road after receiving complaints from residents.

Community Grants

Cllr Sharon Ball is pleased to be able to report back that the first of the small community grants has been approved in favor of On Board who work tirelessly in the local community of East Twerton & Oldfield Park.

A Sum of £1,100 has been awarded and the group plan to spend the money on,
1)   Street Party Event
2)   Bi-annual On-Board Newsletter
3)   All of Bath Litter Pick Day
4)   Knitted artwork for railings/lamp-posts using recycled and weatherproof materials through group 'Its Cool to Knit' -
5)  Shrub section at Station - a must from point of view of On-Board's entry in It's Your Neighbourhood as it is a part of the criteria for Bath which is being judged in this year's Britain In Bloom Competition
6)  Art materials for local disabled artist to paint Roman Scenes and/or Nature scenes to be fixed on to railings at Oldfield Park Station
7)  topping up plants in Name, Pig and Train Sections

Shophouse Road litter Pick

We carried out a litter pick on the bottom of Shophouse road today where we removed about 7 backs of litter from the land on the corner of Shophouse Road and Twerton.

The land is owned by a private developer who has planning permission to build flats on this land. We have chased him before about cleaning this land up but he has failed to respond each time that he has asked so we done the job ourselves along with the Twerton Ward Councillor.
