For those Tuesday recycling collections that were not picked up this week will now not be collected until next Tuesday 19th January and residents are asked to take it back in.
We have been onto the council complaining about the amount of mess that is lying on the streets after previous failed collections due to industrial action by staff working for the councils contractor.
With industrial action in an all out strike this Thursday and Friday we are concerned that this situation could only get worse.
The council have a responsibility to residents to ensure that all residual waste is collected each week and that our streets are clean, so far this current council administration has failed to keep to this.
We await with baited breath in the hope that they will improve.

Bus Shelters and Recycling bins
It is good to see the new bus shelters going in along the Lower Bristol Road. These are much better that the previous ones and all have seats.
We have arranged to complemement these arranged to have a new litter bin and two recycling bins placed by the bus stop outside of the former Herman Miller building.
This we hope will help keep down the litter in the area.

Help reduce waste (do you recycle)
What do you do with your household an garden waste.
This handy guide from Bath & North East Somerset Council explains different ways of disposing of any waste that you may have including general household recycling right through to how to dispose of that old duvet that you may have.
Take a look at what you can recycle and I am sure that you will be as amazed as I was, remember the more we recycle the less that goes to landfill and helps keep our taxes down.

Westmoreland Waste
I went for a walk around the Westmoreland ward this morning and was shocked to find that households in 23 different streets had rubbish outside. I have reported each occurrence of this to BANES to arrange for the waste to be collected before it is spread down the street.
It is important that everyone takes responsibility for disposing of their own waste, which means that NO rubbish should be put on the footpath outside your properties until the day of collection.
Waste bags put out on days other than that of your scheduled collection encourages animals and birds to rip them open and in the case of recycling can result in it being spread over a large area when we have strong winds.
If you are unsure which day your waste is collected, please either check on the BANES website or contact us.
We are committed to ensuring the Westmoreland ward is the cleanest, safest area to live and would ask residents to help us to achieve this.

New small electrical goods recycling service
Starting on 18th February the council will be collecting small electrical goods on its kerbside collections each ŵeek.
The definition of a small electrical item is an item with a plug or a battery that will fit into a carrier bag.
This is yet another initiative being brought in by our Liberal Democrat Council in order to reduce our waste disposal costs and increase our recycling rates.
Large electrical goods will not be collected so please don't try to put these out.

Loxton Drive litter problem? |
We have complained to the council about the amount of litter that has been created in the recent Recycling collection.
The picture clearly shows the mess that was left behind yesterday close to the children's play area in Loxton Drive.
