Loxton Drive

Whilst out visiting residents last night we noticed that the area of Loxton Drive was full of litter.

Sarah and I needed to make a decision to continue calling on residents or to clear the area up.

Well it did not take long for us to make the decision and we cleared the area of 2 bags of litter.

Westmoreland Walk around

Had a good walk around the Lansdown View Estate this morning with Zack from Curo and whilst there we discussed issues such as the fly tipping by the Curo depot on Loxton Drive that Zack has agreed to get cleared.

We also looked at a residents request for an opening in a Curo Fence.

At Priddy Close we looked at several trees in some gardens that are in need of maintenance as they are affecting other residents.

We also asked for an update on the spring that is running to the rear of some of the houses on Rooksbridge walk.

In King Georges Road we looked at the land on Lansdown View where the council have put money into the budget to have a slither of grass put down to tarmac.

It was also good to catch up with Mark a local resident and discuss several contentious issues in the area with him which left him with a far better understanding.

Westmoreland walk around

After a walk around with Curo last week we can report that the following issues were raised to be sorted out and we will be working with both Curo and the Council to resolve these matters.

 Rooksbridge Walk

We have asked the council to clear the weeds from the footpaths at Rooksbridge walk and Loxton Drive the pictures show these have got out of hand.

We would hope that this work could be carried out quite quickly

Loxton Drive

We have asked the Curo to follow up on their promises and remove the old planters that have now become dangerous.

We have also asked the council to jet wash part of the parking area at Loxton Drive.

May residents have complained about the number 40 just being painted on the stone and we have asked Curo to remove this.

We have asked Curo to tidy up the area beside 31.

Priddy Close

Again we have the problem of fly tipping beside the garages at Priddy Close and we will be working with the council and Curo to have this removed and attempt to identify who is dumping at this location.

Albany Road

Cllr Sharon Ball has been helping residents with the aftermath of a sewer overflow last week and has been in touch with both Curo and Wessex water to identify why the blockage keeps happening.

It seems that there may be one very irresponsible resident who is flushing disposable nappies down the drain and we have asked Curo to write to all their tenants to refrain from this sort of activity.

Westmoreland walk about

Councillor Sharon Ball and I went for a lovely walk around the Westmoreland ward today.  We met and talked with a number of residents.

Whilst out we came across a number of issues, including a large amount of waste shown above that we have reported.

We also picked up 2 bags of litter that had been strewn about on Loxton Drive.

If you have any issues on your street and you think we may be able to help, please do get in touch.

Loxton Drive. Priddy Close & Rooksbridge Walk Community event

I had a very good meeting with Curo and a local resident representative yesterday to discuss the possibility of a community event to be held early September in the Loxton Drive area.

We are looking at arranging the community event for all residents to come along to and would love to hear from any other residents that would like to help arrange this.

We will be putting a flyer out in the next couple of weeks with contact information on, or feel free to contact me via email sssomoore@gmail.com or phone 07807013635.

New Year clear up

During a walk around the Westmoreland ward, we noticed a number of rubbish hotspots and have requested that these are cleared up.

We would like to ask all residents across the ward to make 2014 the year everyone of us takes pride in the area we live and help prevent the volume of rubbish that is dumped.  We are all responsible for our own waste and it should be disposed of responsibly.

Full details of what can be collected and recycled from outside your home is shown on the BANES website (http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/services/bins-rubbish-and-recycling).

If you are unsure when you rubbish and recycling is due for collection, please either check the BANES Website or contact us.

Improved lighting Loxton Drive

I have asked the council to look at the street lighting at certain parts of Loxton Drive.

It seems that since the lights were upgraded a while ago it has been darker in this area and I hope that the council will ensure that the lights are operating to a higher standard.

Fly Tipping

During a walk around the area yesterday, we came across a quantity of rubbish that has yet again been dumped on Loxton Drive and also on Claude Avenue.

Council guidelines state that you should not leave waste out any earlier than 8pm on the evening before the day it is due to be collected.  If you are caught Fly Tipping you may be liable for a fine.

Please can you ensure your rubbish is not left out any earlier than this as it is not only unsightly, but it could cause health risks and attract animals that could rip open the bags.

If you are unsure when you rubbish is due to be collected, either contact us or check on the BANES website here.

We spent a couple of hours talking with residents and clearing up the large amount of litter around Loxton Drive, Lansdown View and Priddy Close.

We will be out every Saturday in different areas of Westmoreland Litter picking and talking to residents.

Each week will depend on the state of the areas as we will be targeting the roads most in need. If you want to join us, please get in touch and we will let you know where we will be.

Please dont dump here

I have reported more fly tipping at Loxton Drive and have asked for it to be removed as soon as possible.

It is very clear that this is being deliberately dumped by some person or persons if you know who it is please let us know.

I hope that the mess is cleared quickly.

Loxton Drive

On a visit to Loxton Drive this afternoon I have noticed that the grass in several areas has not been cut properly particularly around the children's play area.

I have asked that the grass is cut as soon as possible as the area has started to look untidy.

I have also noticed that the children's play equipment is starting to look a bit untidy and in need of a good lick of paint, I am sure I remember promises that this would be done but as it hasn't I have also chased this up as well.

Loxton Drive Street Lights

We have again chased the council and Somer Housing with regards to the street lights not working properly.

We had a few weeks ago received a response saying that the fault was an underground one and should be sorted within a week this has not happened so we have chased them again.

Loxton Drive

We have complained to Somer Housing concerning the way that the fencing contract has been proceeding in Loxton Drive.

Residents have complained and we have observed old fence panels being left in public areas overnight that are extremely dangerous.

Somer have been asked to ensure that their contractor cleans up every night after work has finished.
