Westmoreland Walk around

Had a good walk around the Lansdown View Estate this morning with Zack from Curo and whilst there we discussed issues such as the fly tipping by the Curo depot on Loxton Drive that Zack has agreed to get cleared.

We also looked at a residents request for an opening in a Curo Fence.

At Priddy Close we looked at several trees in some gardens that are in need of maintenance as they are affecting other residents.

We also asked for an update on the spring that is running to the rear of some of the houses on Rooksbridge walk.

In King Georges Road we looked at the land on Lansdown View where the council have put money into the budget to have a slither of grass put down to tarmac.

It was also good to catch up with Mark a local resident and discuss several contentious issues in the area with him which left him with a far better understanding.

Walk around with Curo

I had a good walk around the Lansdown view estate today with with officers from Curo looking at matters of concern in the area.

In Shophouse Road we were dealing with the issue of a gate that a resident wanted to install and in King Georges Road we looked at the grass area that residents have wanted Removed at Lansdown View.

We also reported the light under 57  as not working.

Lansdown View / King Georges Road Housing

We are pleased for residents of Lansdown View who through a lot of effort were able to persuade a planning inspector to reject an appeal by Curo to build 21 Houses on a piece of land behind their homes.

We however expect that another planning application will come in shortly on this site to build homes although we would not expect to see the numbers in the application recently rejected.

We will publish further details of any application on this site as soon as we know of one.

King George's Road

Fence at rear of properties on King George's Road

Councillor Sharon Ball and I have been discussing several issues with residents in King George's Road, including this fence that is blocking access to the rear of some properties.

We have been in contact with both Curo and BANES to get the fence repaired, but also to cut back the vegetation behind this fence that has caused it to break in the first place.

We will update you further on progress with this issue as soon as we hear any news.

Loxton Drive. Priddy Close & Rooksbridge Walk Community event

I had a very good meeting with Curo and a local resident representative yesterday to discuss the possibility of a community event to be held early September in the Loxton Drive area.

We are looking at arranging the community event for all residents to come along to and would love to hear from any other residents that would like to help arrange this.

King George's Road

Following recent communications from Curo, a number of residents had left unwanted large items out around the estate, which were supposed to be removed yesterday.

Whilst Councillor Sharon Ball and I were out talking with residents this evening, we were alerted to the fact that Curo had not collected a large amount of the waste.

We will contact Curo immediately this morning to request all remaining rubbish is collected and disposed of.

King Georges Road

I have asked for works to be carried out to several trees in the area after receiving concerns from residents. I have received confirmation that none of the trees mention are deemed to be dangerous and that scheduled works will be carried out shortly.

I have also received confirmation that works to trees on the Linear Way will be tended to by the end of April when a new entrance is created at Ringwood Road.

King Georges Road

The controversial planning application to build 21 units on a former allotment site to the rear of Lansdown View have been refused by the councils planning committee.

The reasons for refusal are the same as a written statement that I sent to the planning committee this afternoon to be read out to members by the Clerk.

These were

1) Over development of site

2) Access issues

I am pleased that the application has been refused.

King Georges Raod

The planning application for houses built by Curo on the former allotment site at Lansdown View was yesterday referred for a site visit by members of the planning committee in early January.

After the site visit the application will return to committee for determination, Many residents presented some powerful arguments against the development and we just hope that planning committee members will be convinced by the arguments.

Although we understand that there is a need for affordable homes in the area it must not be at any cost.

King Georges Road Planning application

I have raised objections to the planning application to build houses on the former allotment site at King Georges Road.

The Objection that I have raised is as follows:

I would to raise an objection to the planning application on the grounds of over development of the site as I believe that their are too many houses being crammed into a very small site.

I have gone through the National Policy Framework quite closely and it is clear that development is normally permitted in these sort of schemes as most of our planning policies are set aside at the moment the guidelines of the NPPF apply as we do not have a current adopted local plan.

I would still however ask you to take into account the small site that is close to a railway track that by the looks of the layout has at least 5 to many properties on the site making it overdeveloped.

The affects on the Junction with Lansdown view would also have highway concerns and should not be permitted without works being carried to mitigate the extra traffic that is being created.

So in short I am objecting to the current application.

King George's Road planning application

A planning application has been submitted by Curo to build more social houses on the allotments in King George's Road.

The proposal is to demolish some of the existing housing in King George's Road and build 11 houses and 10 flats.

Comments are invited via the BANES planning page and the planning reference is 13/03835/FUL.  The deadline for comments is 24th October 2013.

This is better

A big thank you to Curo who have done a good job when replacing the broken tree at King Georges Road that I reported to them a few months ago.

I am sure residents will remember the broken metal grids that were in place in this area before that were an eyesore.

The new paving stones are certainly a huge improvement and tidy the area up, lets hope that the kids leave the tree alone to grow.

I have again asked the council to clear the blocked drain at the junction of Lansdown View and King Georges Road.

This drain has been blocked for several months now and as this area is on a steep hill so it is important that the drain is cleared quickly.

Street Numbering

The Street numbering is now almost complete apart from one big mistake. I am sure that those observant people will have noticed the mistake on the numbering of nos 5 to 8 it has been mistakenly marked as 6 to 8.

I have asked Curo housing who have replaced the signs to correct this as soon as possible.

Blocked Drains

I have asked Bath & North East Somerset Council to clear the blocked drain at the Junction with Lansdown View as soon as possible this drain is completely blocked. If you know of any blocked drains then please contact council connect on 394041 or let us know.


Trees 

I have asked for the broken Tree and the drain metal cover to be reinstated as soon as possible. If you know who broke this tree or damaged the area then let the Police know by dialling 101, alternatively you could let us know.

King Georges Road Parking

I have asked Curo (somer) to mark the parking bays in this area as residents parking only.

I have received many complaints over the past twelve months of people who do not live in the area parking up for the day and this is removing the spaces that were reserved for residents when the estate was remodelled over 10 years ago.

King Georges Road Lansdown View Junction

We have asked the council to look at providing a hatched box on the road at Lansdown view junction withKing Georges Road Road to improve the safety of this junction.

We have also asked the Police and the councils parking services to enforce the white lines and the corners of king Georges Road as these are being dangerously parked on at the moment.

Steps King Georges Road

After prompt action by Councillor Sharon Ball in contacting the councils highways department we have been told that Somer Housing will be ensuring that the steps pictured are going to be repaired today.

The issue of these steps being incorrectly used is a problem that we are looking to address, there is an issues with cyclists riding their bikes down the steps and of course this causes damage to the steps.

We are suggesting that a further cycle barrier is installed by the side of 15 King Georges Road similar to the one by number 12 would resolve this problem.
