Rooksbridge walk

We have asked for works to be carried out on the lane from Shophouse Road to Rooksbridge Walk.

We have asked both the council and curo to chase the owner of the large hedge to have it cut back and the brambles removed from it.

The amount of litter is also of concern and we have asked that it is cleared as soon as possible.

One matter that keeps coming up is that this lane is very dark and we have asked that both Curo and the Council investigate the installation of lighting on this path.

Walk around with Curo

I had a good walk around the Lansdown view estate today with with officers from Curo looking at matters of concern in the area.

In Shophouse Road we were dealing with the issue of a gate that a resident wanted to install and in King Georges Road we looked at the grass area that residents have wanted Removed at Lansdown View.

We also reported the light under 57  as not working.

Thanks again to Zac and Phil from Curo.

Shophouse Road ( Development )

I have made objections to the proposals for the development of 4 1 bedroom flats at 30 Shophouse Road Twerton.

I have made the following objections on line

1) This is over development of the site due to the very compact area that is being proposed for the development it is high on a bank and will have an overlooking affect that will dominate the local area.

2) The lack of on site parking, there is no room to park on the street in this congested area that is now being used for commuter parking.

And in a separate email to the case officer I have made the following comments.

I refer to the above application where I have made comments on line of why I feel that this application is unsuitable in this area.

I would ask that if you are minded to approve this application you would refer it to the development control committee.

This application would amount to over development of this site it is also misleading as it implies that there is plenty of on street parking when in fact there is none.

If you have not made comments on this application you are still able to do so online or in writing quoting application reference number 14/00485/FUL

Shophouse Road

After years of blogging about this issue I am pleased to see the land at the corner of Shophouse Road is at last being developed into badly needed flats for local people.

It is pleasing that this is now happening as this area has been such a mess for many years now and I have personally spent many an hour clearing the mess up.

I just hope that the building process will be quick and the eyesore will just be a distant memory.

Land at Shophouse Road

The land at the bottom of Shophouse Road is again in a mess and we are attempting to get the land cleared up again.

The land in not owned by the council but by a land developer who lives in Combe Down and after many attempts by the council to get him clear the land over a number of years has resulted in your councillors and local volunteers clearing this land up.

We will be attempting a clear up again shortly and will publish the details.
