Bridge delays as problems found
The Bridge at the bottom of Fielding road ahs been closed for 15 weeks now when the original contract was for 13 weeks.
Major corrosion has been found in metal work under the bridge and buried in the concrete that has just been exposed. It is a matter of fact that local Liberal Democrats told them that is what they would find when a repair was first proposed and that is why we pressed for a new bridge.
But as you know our Conservatives knew best and decided on a repair only policy that means that the bridge will now remain closed until Mid August.
Not only are we annoyed that we were not listened to in the first place but the issue of the additional cost to the council tax payer and the inconvenience that is caused to residents is also of concern.
We will be asking the Councils executive member to explain why it is all now going pear shaped and what he intends to do about it.

Bridge Delays run on
It is interesting to find out that a lot of what we have said about the repairs to the bridge at Fielding's Road are coming home to roost.
There is now apparently a problem with the electrical supply that runs under the bridge, and we told them that there would be problems but would they listen oh no they new it all. And it seems to be unbelievable that until recently our Conservative executive member did not even know.
The delay to the bridge repairs runs on and we would not even like to say how far it is delayed now.
If only the Councillors and residents had been listened to in the first place then we would have had a brand new bridge in place by now and not one that is being patched up and running late.
We will certainly be watching the costs as they are now escalating and bringing the Conservative members who knew best on this issue to account.
We will keep you posted on this issue.
