Disruption likely in Latest Road reports

There are many items listed on the latest road reports for the Westmoreland area some of these may now have been completed but others may cause disruption particularly those on the Lower Bristol Road that have been listed on the Twerton Road reports list.
If you want to see what is happening close to your home or what delays you may expect then please follow the links for, Westmoreland road reports & Twerton Road reports.

Two Tunnels Project moves ahead at a pace.

We thought that we would bring you an update as to what is happening on the exciting project that will link the centre of Bath to the country side at Tucking Mill.
The Route will run through Westmoreland ward via the Linear Way with a joint walking and cycling route that is being funded by the National Lottery. The development of this project will ensure that the Linear way remains and is protected from development.
The Project is moving ahead fast and you can see the latest progress that is being made by following the Link Two Tunnels.
The only draw back as far as your local councillors are concerned is the short sighted vision of our Conservative administration in not replacing the bridge at Fielding's road with a new multi use bridge. This would have made the link for this new path to the Bristol to Bath Cycle path complete (perhaps one day they will listen to common sense).

Drainage problem and Litter Bin at Linear Way.

The Standing water problem on the footpath at Linear way between King Georges Road and Ringwood road has been causing concern for some time now. Councillor Sharon Ball has now asked that and additional layer of Tarmac is placed at the area of the water problem so that it will not gather there in the future.

We have also had it brought to our attention that the litter bin at this location is constantly overflowing and we have brought this to the attention of Bath & North East Somerset Council and have asked that they keep on eye on it in the future to make sure that it does not overflow again.

Bridge Delays Cause Concern

It has come to our attention that the bridge works at Fieldings Road are already running over 4 weeks late.
How do we know this you may ask well that is what the workers are telling us and that they have been having more problems than they expected? It is also expected that the costs will be higher than budgeted for.
We will be asking the Conservative executive member at the next cabinet meeting to explain why his project is overrunning and if costs are higher than expected why he has not anticipated such an increase in his original budget.

We are sure residents remember that we campaigned for a new bridge at this location and not the inferior repair that was put on us by the former conservative member in Charge of Highways.

Half Marathon This Sunday

The half Marathon takes place tomorrow and Cars will not be able to enter the Lower Bristol Road for several hours in the morning and local 5 Buses will not be running properly from 10am to 2pm.
Also any one that lives on the route of the Marathon will need to watch out for parking restrictions as we do not want to see residents cars towed away as they were last year.

Who dumped this?

Whilst out and about in Westmoreland Cllr Sharon Ball came across this bag of rubbish that some thoughtless person had dumped and scattered at the end of Albany Road. The mess has now been cleared up but this is not the point we are trying to get the area cleared up but some do not seem to care.
defaultdefault
Further up the road at the brickfields litter has been carelessly dumped by the side of the Shop Sharon has asked that this be cleared up and consideration given to placing a litter bin in this lane.
If you know of a problem area then let us knows?

Further Student accommodation planned for Lower Bristol Road

Unite are about to put a further planning application in to put more student accommodation alongside the current Waterside court.
Although no formal application has been received by the council we understand that Unite have been talking to council officers for some time now.
We have received a letter from Unite concerning the progress that they are making and we thought that you our residents may like to see what they are proposing.
We have already made comments about the traffic problems and the parking issues in the local roads, we have also commented about the lack of bus provision and a shelter in the area.
Please have a look at the attached documents and let us have your comments as soon as possible.
Due to the size of the attachment we will only publish it for 10 days after that we will send it to you non request.
