Westmoreland walk about

Had a lovely walk around the Westmoreland ward in the sunshime today.  It is a shame there are still so many issues with rubbish bags being left out at the wrong time.  I have reported these occurances to BANES and would like to say that rubbish bags being left on the side of the road any longer than necessary add to the issues of litter build up on our streets.

I have asked BANES to arrange for a number of roads to be properly swept as the level of rubbish building up on these roads is unacceptable.

There are several broken trees around Priddy Close and Loxton Drive, I have requested these are removed and replaced as they are very dangerous.

I have also reported the extremely dangerous pavement in Loxton Drive, where someone has hit the bollards clean out of the ground, leaving the area badly damaged.

If you are aware of any issues that need attention, please let us know, so that we can help to get them resolved with you.

Public consultation - Additional licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs)

Bath & North East Somerset Council is considering extending its current licensing scheme to require all shared HMOs to be licensed around the Wards of Oldfield, Westmoreland and Widcombe as well as small parts of adjoining wards including Bathwick, Twerton, Lyncombe and Southdown.

Additional licensing would allow the Council to ensure that HMOs meet minimum standards to protect the occupants in terms of health, safety and welfare. It would also help improve management of these properties which is beneficial not only for the occupants of HMOs but also for the wider community and, provide consistent standards for landlords.

The consultation seeks your views on whether additional licensing should proceed and if so, what should be included and how it could work.  The consultation will run until the 30thNovember 2012 and we welcome your views and comments.

It is very important that everyone has there say so make sure that you respond.

Albert Terrace/Burnham Road

On my way to work this morning I came across this at the junction with Albert Terrace and Burnham Road:

I have reported this to BANES and within a couple of hours they had contacted the owner of this man hole cover who have put a barrier around it and will hopefully get it replaced as soon as possible.

Westmoreland Weekend Walk

Perfect weather for a stroll around Westmoreland this afternoon.

Some streets looking rather tidy, others quite obviously haven't seen a sweeping brush for sometime.

The graffiti is increasing again and I have reported this to BANES.  If you have any information on who is continuing to deface other people's property please let us know.

There was also a large amount of rubbish bags on the pavements although they will not be collected until Tuesday at the earliest.

Please can you make sure you do not put your rubbish on the pavements outside your home until 7pm the evening before collection is due as it not only causes an obstruction but can result in the contents being spread around the streets.

I have reported a number of different issues to BANES today including several litter bins that are full and need emptying.

I have also written a letter to the owner of the land next to the student accommodation on the Lower Bristol Road to ask them to tidy it up, being on one of the main routes into the city it is not a nice site.

It you have any issues please contact us.
