A Very Happy New Year

Can we take this opportunity to wish all our residents in the Westmoreland Ward a very Happy New Year.

if we can be of any help to you even on New Year's Day then please contact us.

Residents Surgeries

We will soon be publishing the dates and locations of residents surgeries that we will be running across the area starting in January 2013.

We intend running a monthly surgery at three different locations across the ward and will publish the details of these on this blog in the next few weeks.

In the mean time if you have an issue to raise then please contact us using our contact details.

Calling on a door near you soon

In the new year we will be calling on doors in Westmoreland talking to local residents about what is important to them.

When we call we will let you know about some of the exiting things that the Liberal Democrats are doing on the council on your behalf.

It is important that we get your view points on what is happening across the area so that this can be fed into the council administration to ensure that you get the best benefits from our council in the community.

Did you know?
The amount of wrapping paper estimated to be thrown away in the UK at Christmas could stretch around the equator nine times or to the moon if each sheet was laid end to end. Every year the UK throws out an estimated 4,500 tonnes of tin foil over the Christmas period. This is enough to cover around 1500 square miles - roughly the size of Suffolk. But wrapping paper (white backed non foil types) greeting cards, gift tags and aluminium foil can be recycled in your green box.
You can make full use of your food waste recycling collections for all food waste including bones. For tips to save money and cut down your food waste this Christmas

HMO consultations

The consultation on HMO article 4 Planing regulation and HMO Licensing is now complete and we are waiting for the results of the consultation.

It is clear from the residents that we have spoken to that they are supporting the proposals and we assume that the consultation will bear this out.

We will be pressing the council hard to impose a scheme in line with residents comments as soon as the results are known.

We will of course publish the results on this blog.

Former Herman Miller building

I have asked Lidl to remove the rubbish that has been dumped around the Former Herman Miller site on the Lwr Bristol Road.

I would hope that this would be cleared quickly.

Westmoreland walkabout

Whilst out delivering the new South West Bath Tri-ward Focus leaflet today I came across a couple of issues that I have reported to BANES and Curo.

I have requested that the blocked drains on Brook
Road and in the car park off Bellotts Road are
cleared as soon as possible.

There are alot of leaves and other rubbish blocking
them and will prevent the easy draining of any rain
water that we are likely to receive.

I have also asked that the pile of clothes that have been left in Caledonian Road are cleared.

There are a number of charities that would be happy to recycle this type of rubbish and collection bags/information is regularly posted through doors.

Please can your refrain from putting any rubbish bags out on days when rubbish is not being collected as they end up being ripped open and spread down the street.

Priddy Close Car Park

We continue our successful campaign to keep the car parks available for cars to park in this ever busy area for parking.

We have asked both the council and Curo housing to ensure that this area is kept clear of trailers and Caravans.

Most residents keep the area clear but one or two persist and after receiving compliant from resident we have asked that one remaining Caravan is removed as soon as possible.
