Changes to Buses From September 27
A number of changes that First is making to bus services from September 27.
In Bath, the main changes affect services for university students with the introduction of a new Service 419, and changes to timetables to offer better journey options.
The timetable of Service 18 (University of Bath – City Centre) will change slightly to ensure that there are evenly spaced departures in coordination with Service 418. An additional early evening journey is being added in, giving students greater opportunities to travel.
Following a request from Bath Spa University, the Monday – Saturday timetable of Service 418 (University of Bath – City Centre – Bath Spa University) is changing slightly so that all arrivals and departures from Bath Spa University leave 10 minutes earlier. An additional early evening journey has also been added into the timetable, giving students more opportunities to travel.
From 27 September a new Service 419 will run between the University of Bath and Bath Spa University operating during the morning and evening peak hours. This will provide a direct link for the student halls of residence on the Lower Bristol Road. Buses will follow the route of Service 418 in the main, but will run along the Lower Bristol Road rather than Windsor Bridge and Newbridge Road, giving students in the area more opportunities to travel. Service 410 will no longer run. Customers may catch services 18 or 418 alternatively.
There are also minor changes, mainly on Monday to Saturday, to services 2, 5, 17 and 234 to improve punctuality and reliability. Please click here for more information along with details of changes in Bristol, Weston, Wells and Somerset:

This article appeared in the Bath Chronicle on line today and refers to Greggs Bakery in Moorland Road. It seems that some people can not leave anything alone these days. If you know anything about this incident then please call the Police on 08454567000.
The entire stock of a Bath bakery store will have to be thrown away after a vandal sprayed the contents of a fire extinguisher through its letterbox.
A large stretch of Moorland Road was closed this morning after what was initially thought to be a chemical incident.
The full story can be read by following this link, http://www.thisisbath.co.uk/news/Chemical-alert-shuts-Moorland-Road/article-1354883-detail/article.html

Western Riverside will it ever Happen
In a question concerning Western Riverside at the Cabinet meeting last week as to what is happening to Western Riverside and to understand Cllr Sharon Ball received the rather strange answers to her question that makes us feel that we are not being told everything that is going on. We will continue to press the issue until we get the answers that we and local people need.
The questions
Bath Western Riverside
a) Can we be told what progress is being made with a possible start date for this
scheme and what, if any, new financial difficulties may be involved.
b) Can the Cabinet Member tell us if he has had any talks with the Rugby and
football clubs about any interests that they may have in developing a new
stadium on Western Riverside.
The Reply from Terry Gazzard Conservative cabinet member.
a) Negotiations are progressing well with Crest Nicholson Regeneration in
respect of a start date for a scheme. There are no new financial difficulties
involved; the challenge remains establishing the level and timing of Government
and the Homes and Communities Agency involvement. Discussions to establish
this position are on-going.
b) Discussions with Bath Rugby have generally been held by Cllr. Watt in respect
of The Recreation Ground Trust and by Cllr. Hanney on a corporate basis. These
discussions have centred on Bath Rugby remaining on the Rec as was the
expressed wish of the overwhelming majority of Trust beneficiaries (residents of
Bath and environs) during 2007 consultation. There are no prospects of a
stadium on BWR.

No Planning application on Bath Press site
In a question to Cabinet last week Cllr Sharon Ball raised the question about what is happening on the former Bath Press site and whether a planning application has been submitted.
The question and reply is below but as the reply is so weak we will keep on pressing this issue about what talks are being held with the Council by any potential developer.
The question
Can we have an update on what is happening on the Bath Press Site and if a
planning application is expected any time soon on this site.
The reply from Cllr Charles Gerrish the Cabinet member responsible.
I can confirm that there is no application at present. Of course it is for a
developer to decide when an application is made and also whether to agree to
make any pre-application discussions with the Local Planning Authority public.

House must be put right
For nearly a decade the house pictured below in Ivy Grove has been left empty and been allowed to deteriorate. Local Councillors have tried to get the owner through the Council officers of Bath & North East Somerset to get this house put back into some sort of order.
Now Cllr Sharon Ball & MP Don Foster are calling on the council to take some action to get this family home back into what it was built for to house a family.
Sharon said "Not only would its use mean a family desperate for a home would have one but it would also be an eye sore for its neighbours removed. We are calling on the council to take some action this time and not just empty words".
