Lymore Gardens

During a recent walk around the area, we came across a few issues that we have requested the council sort out.  One of these was this tree:

It is so rotten, it is being propped up by a plank of wood.  We have requested BANES arrange for this to be cut back as soon as possible as it is very dangerous.

If you have any issues in your area that you would like to discuss, please contact us.

Lymore Gardens Play area

Following several meetings and a number of emails, we are pleased to confirm BANES parks team have allocated funds for work on the Lymore Gardens play area.

This financial year will see equipment replaced, repaired and repainted as well as moving the bench and replacing the bark.

This will mean all play areas in the Westmoreland area will be refreshed this year.

Westmoreland Play Area progress

We have had confirmation today that our request to upgrade the equipment in Lymore Gardens has taken a step forward.

We are looking at getting the play area updated and will then arrange a community action day to paint the remaining equipment.

A request has now been lodged to upgrade some of the equipment and the ground surface is to be sorted prior to us carrying out the painting.

If any of you would like to assist with the painting, please feel free to contact us

Westmoreland Litter

We spent a couple of hours out clearing litter from streets in Westmoreland today.

Bellotts Road was quite bad, so much litter mixed with the leaves we decided it was easier to clear the leaves as well.  This resulted in 8 bags collected here in total.

We then moved onto another area of the ward, clearing 4 bags of litter from Lymore Gardens and part of Lymore Avenue.

Had lovely conversations with quite a few residents while we were out, they were happy we were out making a difference.

Lymore Gardens

Sarah Moore inspecting area with a local resident
I had a very good meeting with Council officers at Lymore Gardens on Thursday and I am able to report that we have made good progress in resolving a serious parking problem.

I have reached agreement with officers and local residents that will see white lines put down on the road at the bottom of Lymore Gardens that would create a safe turning bay for local residents.

It had been reported of many cars being damaged due to very poor parking in this residential area that is close to a commercial area.

Park Lymore Gardens

I have asked for a new lamp post to be placed in the park between Lymore Gardens and Millmead Road.

The new lamp post will ensure there is enough light to safely get through the park at night and discourage some of the alcohol fuelled anti social behaviour that is taking place.

I have also working with Sarah Moore asked for some of the dead and broken trees in the play area to be removed.

The issue of the Path that runs from the park to Claude Ave has always been a problem and I have asked for some compacted rubble to be placed on this path.

Lymore Gardens Turning Bay

Sarah Moore with Local resident

We have asked the council to look into putting a turning bay at the bottom of Lymore Gardens to assist local residents whose cars are often hit by other vehicles trying to turn around or reverse backwards.

Lymore Gardens is a residential area and a cul de sac but has commercial units just off one part of the road that make the road more awkward to navigate.
