Storm drain before clearance

Councillor Sharon Ball and I met with representatives from Network Rail recently to discuss a number of issues along the area of track that runs from the bridge at Brougham Hayes through to Twerton.

Following our meeting we are pleased to see the storm drain that comes out  to the West of Oldfield Park Railway Station has been cleared of the large amount of rubbish that has been thrown over the fence.

The hedge that has been overhanging the pathway on this stretch of the railway for a number of weeks has been cleared back to make the area brighter and cleaner.

We have also discussed having the fencing around this area raised to help prevent people being able to throw the rubbish over and blocking this drain.  We are awaiting confirmation of a date for when this can be carried out.

We will confirm as soon as we have progress on the other works we have requested.

Oldfield Park Railway Station

Councillor Sharon Ball and I attended an event held at Oldfield Park Baptist Church this evening to talk with various people from Network Rail, First Great Western and the Council about plans for Oldfield Park Railway Station including the works involved in the electrification.

The teams were also keen to hear from residents about what they want for the area.

We raised a number of concerns included increases in parked vehicles on local roads and the option of access to the station from the opposite end of the platforms.

We also went for a walk around the area to discuss the conditions on the site and got agreement from the Network Rail representative to help get this mess cleared up down the lane and also get the vegetation cut right back to make the lane a brighter route to walk.

Sunny Saturday

With such a sunny day in Bath, we could not resist the opportunity to be out and about talking to residents and helping to care for our community.

Sharon and I were joined by a number of people on the platform at Oldfield Park Station for photos. Next week, the Council’s Cabinet is due to discuss business case funding for the Metro West project. This is a joint project with the other West of England Authorities, which aims to provide enhanced local rail services for the West of England, more details will be in our April focus newsletter.

We then went and took a look around the Heritage Fair at Bath City FC, very interesting information on display.



Sharon and I then went onto a very busy ward surgery at the Ascension Church, Claude Avenue, talking to a number of local residents about a range of issues and concerns.


I then decided to make the most of this bright weather and went to pick some litter in the ward.  In just 30 minutes I picked up 2 bags of litter.
