Claude Avenue litter

Whilst walking around Westmoreland earlier this afternoon Councillor Sharon Ball came across a large mess at the bottom of Claude Avenue.

Rubbish bags that had been left out earlier than they should have been were ripped open and the contents spread around the area.  This was due largely to food being left in the bags.

After meeting up with Sharon in the ward, we decided to return and clear the area.

Please can you make sure that if you choose not to recycle food waste, you do not leave bags out overnight, but ensure they are put out by 7am on the day of collection.

New Housing Regulations to affect our area

I have placed an article on the HMO market situation and how new regulations will affect the area of East Twerton, West Twerton & Oldfield Park.

I have placed this story on my personal web site and you can read it here

Many thanks to Oldfield Councillor Will Sandry for his help with content.

Ponding at Lower Bristol Bus Shelter

I have asked for the council to deal with the issue of the flooding of the kerbside gutter at the Bellotts Road bus shelter.

This matter has been going on for some time now but the fact remains that rain water cannot reach the drain because the tarmac on either side creates a barrier.

It is not going to take a great deal of effort to resolve this problem and I hope that it will soon be sorted.

Polamco Planning application

I have submitted positive comments in support of Polamco planning application.

Application Number: 13/01868/FUL Address: Unit C Weston Lock Retail, Lower Bristol Road, Westmoreland, Bath, Bath And North East Somerset, BA2 1EP

Proposal: Erection of a four storey extension to existing building to be used as offices and provision of additional parking.

The comments I have made are:

I am supporting this application as it fits in with the local area and the design and appearance are not out of Character with the local area. The applicant has been very good in laying out their plans and as the local area will benefit from the additional employment that is being created I feel that this application should be approved. It has to be remembered that this is an employment area as set out in the councils local plan and the emerging core strategy.

Victoria Close

Another lovely walk around Westmoreland today, but unfortunately, I came across more road sign issues just a short distance from the ones I reported yesterday (which were the two signs that had been vandalised on Dartmouth Avenue).

When looking at the entrance to Victoria Close on the right you will see, or maybe I should say you can hardly see:

Whilst on the left you will see:

This is totally unacceptable and I have asked that both these signs are cleared of vegetation and in the case of the one on the left replaced.

Dartmouth Avenue

Whilst out walking around Westmoreland this afternoon, I was annoyed to find this:

I have reported this to BANES and requested it is repaired as soon as possible.  I have also reported several overflowing bins across the ward that need to be emptied.
